Modern Punk Rock in Portland, Maine

The modern punk rock group Titus Andronicus recently performed at the SPACE Gallery in Portland, Maine, in a concert that also featured Brenda and Dinowalrus. Even though the concert was held on a Tuesday evening, the 8pm show played to a packed crowd. Brenda started off the show with a set of '90s-inspired alternative rock. Dinowalrus, led by a former member of Titus Andronicus, took the stage next.

Their sound is a style of synth-heavy dance rock somewhat reminiscent of British bands like The Klaxons. This livened up the crowd and got people moving ahead of the main act. The five-member NJ band Titus Andronicus is fronted by Patrick Stickles, who put on an impressive show as he howled with rage at the modern world with lyrics that dealt with themes like depression and alcoholism. He was backed up by the band's powerful guitar riffs as they moved between high-energy rock and sorrowful ballads.
